Jane & Tom - Holiday Memories

next

We're always willing to help our customers personalise their parties and we recently had the pleasure of meeting Jane and Tom who got together whilst holidaying on the island back in the 1990s and wanted to re-live the fun nights they had at the holiday camp by performing to a number of action songs as their first dance!

This was to be kept top secret from the rest of the 150 guests at this Disney-themed party. The playfulness of this young couple resulted in the creation of a 10-minute mix of songs which was completed several weeks ahead of the party to that they had chance to practice in their living room!! The dance would start as if a traditional slushy wedding first dance to Lonestar's Amazed to a floor filled with a translucent haze and bright white slowly-rotating lights so that everyone could grab a gorgeous snap or two.

After a couple of minutes we inserted a sound effect similar to a record player "dying" in a power cut - and killed all the lights! After about 20 seconds of silence folks in the room started to mutter and just before panic set in (it was a VERY dark room with no windows!) the music and lights blasted out to the strains of YMCA!

What followed over the next 10 minutes was pure Youtube material!! Song after song of action dances performed flawlessly by the wedding couple (in formal attire!) to whoops of delight from the crowd. The songs included The Purple People Eater, The Fast Food Song, Oops Upside Your Head, The Finger Song, Hot Stuff and Revolution in Paradise before settling back into the last chorus of Amazed. The crowd went wild and this really set the scene for the next 4 hours. The requests came flooding in for some pretty disparate songs for all ages and the dancefloor was full all night. All in all one of our favourite parties for a long time!

We've produced pre-mixed dances such as this on a number of occasions for weddings and other themed parties for individuals or groups to prepare dance sequences to. Talk to us about your ideas!

If you'd like to make your wedding celebration stand out in your guests' memories for a long time to come, talk to VectisVibe about your ideas. We love variety and probably have quite a few suggestions about what willwill not work based on our long experience!

NB: The names have been changed to protect the innocent!
